 The first month of the year is also the busiest time for the Maldives. Why? Because the weather is so good! The weather is comfortably warm and just perfect for exploring the outdoors. Temperatures often stay between 27 and 30 degrees. Plus, the sea is calm and inviting.January is one of the driest months in the Maldives, so humidity levels are low.February brings similar conditions, with little to no rain, low humidity, calm seas, and comfortably warm weather.January and February are excellent times for water sports – be it snorkelling, diving, or other experiences like dinner on the beach. Sounds great, doesn’t it? March, April, and May

 March marks the end of the dry season and is a great time to visit the islands. The weather remains warm, and temperatures rise up to 31 degrees. Beaches are absolutely gorgeous during this time, and the clear, calm waters are an invitation for adventures such as snorkelling and diving. Since the weather is still great, prices remain high.During April, the Maldives experiences the beginning of the rainy season. It’s about 32 degrees now, and there’s increasingly more rain as the month goes by. However, there’s still plenty of sunlight during the day, so you can still be out and about. Don’t think the Maldives doesn’t get many visitors during April – it does, especially around the Easter holidays – so it’s prudent to book a resort in advance.May welcomes the rainy season. June and July 

Rain calms down a little bit during June. Temperatures are between 28 and 30 degrees. The weather is still hot and humid, so pack light, breathable clothes. Rain showers and thunderstorms are characteristic of June, but fewer crowds and low prices appeal to some travellers.June experiences a similar change in weather, but the rainfall is significantly lower now. Stunning beaches and scenic tropical views are in full swing, with highlights such as Maldivian Independence Day on July 26th. Adventure activities are back on the cards.

August, September, and October 

It rains in August, but the temperatures and humidity levels remain unchanged. However, rain showers can last for days at times, so finding a good time for outdoor adventure is almost impossible. Despite the weather being less conducive to adventure, August is not a cheap month to visit, as the school holidays bring families to the islands.September is the wettest month, but during the day, there’s enough sunlight, and temperatures remain below 31 degrees. Resort islands are less busy now, which means lower prices.In October, the Maldives transitions into the dry season. Rainfall is high, but it comes in short spells. Resorts still offer low prices, and the crowds remain small. It’s a great time to enjoy the outdoors while benefiting from affordable prices.

November and December

 The Maldives welcomes the beginning of the best time to visit. The weather starts to get better, and as a result, the number of tourist arrivals goes up. During the first two weeks, rainfall is still possible, but there’s more sunshine than rain. Outdoor activities like snorkelling and diving come into the picture during this month.December happens to be the busiest month, with travellers from Europe and the US coming to the Maldives for the Christmas holidays. If you’re planning a trip for this time of the year, you’d better book your accommodation early.
